The Interplay Of Humidity Air Conditioner, And Heater

The term humidity refers to the vaporized water existent in the air surrounding us. We commonly hear of relative humidity i.e. the percentage of water vapor measured in the air at a specific temperature. Absolute humidity is the total mass of water vapor in particular volume of air at a given time. It is a well-understood fact that warm air can hold greater quantity of water vapor than cold air. Since air conditioner and heater both alter the air temperature, the humidity level indoors changes significantly with their use.

Humidity Levels And Comfort

The relative humidity level for comfortable condition of the human body is between 20 and 60 percent. For home environment an average 35 to 40 percent relative humidity is optimum given an outside temperature of 20?F or more. But during winter, water vapors on windows and inside of walls occur, raising the humidity level inside. This may cause damage to the structures. In such a case, you need to adjust both your air conditioner and heater to lower degrees. The air conditioner lowers the temperature, which induces condensation on the inner sides of windowpanes. A heater, on the other hand, speeds up the process of evaporation from moisture contained in household items. However, running a patio heater in times of higher humidity inside can counter the problem to some degrees. With air conditioner and heater units, using a humidifier is the best option.

The most obvious signs of discomfort caused by low humidity levels indoors are dry nose and throat, itching, dryness of skin and hair, and irritation of the respiratory tract. To increase the humidity level, instead of an air conditioner and heater, you can use a humidifier. The increase can be brought about in three ways. First, by evaporating more water inside. Here you can use your heater to speed up the process. Take care not to set the heating level too high or you can possibly harm both your health and the indoor plants. The second way is to let air circulate through your room from a wet pad or by discharging a very fine mist of water into your room. For this, you have to add water manually on a regular basis until the desired level of comfort is attained. The third method employs direct introduction of moisture into the room, by means of a furnace.

While using air conditioner and heater for regulating temperature indoor, always use a humidity control unit so as to prevent the levels of humidity from going too high or too low and cause possible health problems as well as structural damage.

When we decide to buy an air conditioner, one of the primary things that concern us is how the unit would look. Of course we also debate about the brand, the price and other things, but the looks always seem to be crucial in our buying decision. In fact, many companies try to sell their products highlighting the looks of the unit rather than the functionality. The idea is that all air conditioners at the end of the day will cool the rooms. Many of us have been in need of an air conditioning contractor at some point of time. Trouble was ? we hardly knew how to find one. We knew ? we need someone who was good, who was competent. But where can we find someone like that. As with any other search operation, two things are critical to it ? first, give yourself time, if you just happen to bump against an excellent air conditioner contractor on the streets just when you was looking for one, then you are lucky enough to win a lottery. However, if you have are an average sort of person, then you need to allow yourself some time. Secondly, don?t just take time, utilize it. Plan how to look for a contractor and work according to your plan.

What are you looking for in your contractor? He must be knowledgeable to answer any questions you have. He also must have a wide range of air conditioning units to offer for you to choose from.

First lesson would be to get quotes from as many contractors as possible. Least should be three. This would ensure that you can just strike out the ones which are quoting much too variable figures. Someone quoting too low or too high can be left out. Settle for the ones which are near the market average. Of course there will be variation, only ensure that it is not too vast. Someone bidding too low can actually mean that he will be compromising on the installation or the design.

No contractor would claim that they don?t do the best job. It is your duty to find out who actually does a good job. That would need you to research the local market. That would also mean that you will have to talk to your friends and neighbors and relatives to see if they have some good contractor to refer you to. But don?t just go by someone?s recommendation. Always follow it up with your own research.

One important way to find out if the contractor is good to do business with is by finding out how long they have been in the business. If it is for a substantial period of time, then you can guess that their service has been up to the mark allowing them to survive for all those years. Also be particular about the warranty card and other papers that come with the unit. Make sure all of them are properly filled in and duly signed and stamped.

How Air Conditioners work?

Air Conditioners: In an Air Conditioner chemicals are used to cool the temperature of the room. The liquid chemicals are produced from a gas, which again converts to gas form. The chemical transfers the heat from the inside to the outside of the room.

Mainly the Air Conditioner machine has three parts, a compressor, a condenser and an evaporator. The condenser and compressor are in the outside portion of the machine while the evaporator is located inside the room.

In the processor the chemical, which is a low-pressured cooled gas, enters. The processor then squeezes that chemical. It makes the molecules of the chemical closer together. The closer molecules create high energy and heat. The chemical leaves the compressor as hot and high-pressure gas and enters the condenser. At the backside of the machine we can see a metal fin. It works as a radiator and helps to cool down the heat very quickly. When the chemical leaves the condenser, it become very cold. The liquid flows in the evaporator through a small hole. On the other end the chemical becomes colder and starts to evaporate to gas. As the liquid becomes gas it soaks heat from the surrounding area. The heat of the air is needed to separate molecules of the chemical, which were packed together in the processor. The evaporator also has metal fins to exchange cool temperature with surrounding air. The liquid again leaves the evaporator and begins the same process. A fan connected with the evaporator circulates the cool air into the room.
